{sibling sweetness}

A few weeks ago, I photographed little man Sam and Miss Jessica. Sam was so happy & sweet – and definitely made me laugh! Jessica wasn’t thrilled to have her picture made but as you can see she had nothing to worry about! Beautiful blue eyes, great skin and gorgeous hair - what more could I ask for? :) Here are some of my favorites from our morning together.

Hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

{Peace,Love&Woofstock}

Several weeks ago the kids, my husband, myself and most importantly our dog, Molly girl, went to Star94′s annual Woofstock event. It was blazing hot – so our guest of honor (Molly, of course!) spent her day looking for free dog bowls filled with water! :) But the kids had a blast – playing in the water fountains (the event is held at Suwanee Town Center), playing in the free bounce houses, and jumping on the free bungee trampolines. I must say Star94 does a fabulous job putting on this event!

We had a great time dog watching too! Itty-bitty to enormous – dogs of all breeds, all sizes, and all mixures were romping around with their proud owners. These people truly love the 4 legged members of their families. Acutally several people seemed to love our 4 legged family member as well! Molly is a pure-breed boxer and obviously several of the boxer males had their eye on our girl. ;) Molly was invited to “breed” with quite a few males hanging out at the event, but we politely declined!

I definitely cannot leave out the vendors from that day. I honestly had no idea! From humane societies, to no-kill rescues, to specialy pet bakeries, to specialty artists, to pet water bottles! If you could possibly think of it – it was there!

OH! And live music to boot!! Like I said, Star94 really goes all out for the doggies!

Since we plan to do a dog and cat charity event in the *very* near future to benefit a local not-for profit, I thought I’d share a few of the images captured that day.

Enjoy!

Peace, love and pets!

{love.my.girl}

Ever heard of the plumber who always has a leaky faucet? that builder who never finishes the addition to his own house? the mechanic who’s car needs new muffler? Well, how about the photographer that never gets around to doing photoshoots (and NO, candids do NOT count!) of her own children?? Or how about that photographer that when she does do the shoots, never finds the time to edit those of her own kids??

Never heard of her? Hmmm, you have now! I admit it! I am have a ga-jillion pictures of my own precious babies – but have the worst time actually taking the time to do a real photoshoot with them….and you guessed it! When I do get around to a shoot, I have an even harder time getting them edited! Which is crazy if you really think about it! I love pictures, adore pictures, and I actually see the world IN pictures just about every where I go. I see locations, colors, clothing – and off my brain flies thinking of how to use this or that in a certain picture or for a particular portrait session.

So this summer (and for the rest of the year…and dare I say from here on out???), I have vowed to schedule time for my own precious ones. Time not only for the shoot, but for the editing and for putting them BIG on my walls! (oh yes, I am definitely a fan of Bigger is Better!!)

And can you believe it? I have even already done a session! Totally fly by the seat of my pants, decide at 5pm that we’re going to go for it that evening – but done, none-the-less! :) It was quick – no more than 30 minutes, it was HOT – still hovering around 90, and I swear taking pictures of your own kids is WAY harder than a session with any other kids in the entire universe! :)

I managed to get a lot that I love from that short mini-session and here is one of my sweet, funny, opinionated, strong-willed, cuddly, loving, musical, twinkle-eyed, just wanna squeeze those cheeks, love of my life Gretchen girl. We’ve had such a long road (medically) with this one but things are looking up and we are {hopefully} seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! Don’t you just want to squeeze {and smooch} those cheeks??

Stay tuned for the rest of this shoot!

Thanks for reading….comments welcomed, loved, appreciated! :)

{simple happiness}

This past Saturday I had a crazy *but amazing* day of shooting – bridal, boudoir and even some maternity. Yes, all in one day! :) It was a crazy long day. I got some amazing shots.

But this one – showing everyday, simple beauty has stayed with me. It is so simple, so natural and still unexpected! Somehow it reminded me to never stop looking for the beauty found in the everyday. Just nature being naturally beautiful. Call me silly, but this little guy made me stop. He definitely made me smile. And I couldn’t help but take a shot (or two or three!) He simply made me happy! Here he was hanging out on the top of the lip gloss, just like he owned the place! :)

It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all. (Laura Ingalls Wilder)

I hope this little guy brings a smile to your face, too! And stay tuned for posts on the {real} subjects for the day! :) :)

{daddy & me}

So here we are…June is already here!! Can you believe it? I for one absolutely cannot. I thought just yesterday it was the 1st or 2nd of May! But, believe it or not, June is here and with it a whole month to celebrate all those wonderful Daddy’s out there! Father’s Day is right around the corner, but why not let those special men in our lives know how much we appreciate all they do for the whole month of June?

That’s why this month’s special is all about celebrating the Daddy’s. But not only Daddy, but even more so celebrating the special bond between a Daddy and his children. I strongly believe a father’s role in a child’s life is immense and it seems especially now-a-days family bonds are becoming more and more important. So don’t miss out on this great opportunity to capture the love and tenderness between your precious babies and their special Daddy.

And for all you Mom’s out there…what a wonderful way to finally get Dad IN some pictures by giving him this special gift, FOR him, from his precious children? :)

I can’t wait to hear from all of you!

{loVe biRds}

For quite a while I have been thinking of doing some sort of contest….I’ve been eyeing others’ freebies, giveaways and competitions - especially on all the Facebook business pages! Those contests are rampant not to mention awesome! I am all the time thinking what a great idea when I see a new contest pop up. I have also started a Facebook business page myself just a few weeks ago. It is pretty cool how quickly the fans (or I guess it is “likers” now??) are growing over there! I am excited and honored all at the same time! When we hit 300 fans, I decided we would have not one….not two…but THREE fabulous contests to celebrate 300 fans!

The first is for all the {loVe biRds}!  Honestly, how many of us have great photos of ourselves with our love?? I have plenty (ok, ok TONS! ha!) of pictures of my kids and even a good number of my kids with my husband. But of me with my husband? Hardly any since our honeymoon! So I was thinking, surely I am not the only woman on the planet that wishes she had more pictures with her honey. And that is how this contest idea came about.

Since I posted about the {loVe biRds} contest on Facebook almost a week ago many of you may already know all about it, but just in case, here’s the deal (OH – and even if you do know about it….listen up – because I’m including some good and new info!): You may think, well sure, I have a love but not the kind of story for a contest. But that’s where you are wrong – this  contest is for the young loVe that is just blossoming, the old loVe that has stood the test of time, the roller-coaster loVe that is still going strong and the against all odds loVe that no one believed in, but yet here you are still in loVe. It is for dating loVe, enagement loVe, married loVe….whatever YOUR loVe is, whoever YOUR loVe biRd is – THAT is what this contest is, that is who this contest is for. There is no *right* or *wrong* loVe because loVe is beautiful, unique and it is what makes your and your loVe who you are. What can be wrong about that?? :)

{I also realized many of us women are often shy about putting ourselves out there for ourselves! For our kids – in a heartbeat! For our girlfriends – not a second thought! But for ourselves? well, not always so much! SO – if you want to enter a friend of yours who you feel definitely *should* enter but you feel certain they *won’t* then please do! If your friend wins, you will get some sort of freebie as well…haven’t decided what yet, but for sure something for being such a thoughtful friend!}

Here’s what you have to do to enter: (1) you must be a fan of Heather Moraru Photography (on Facebook!); (2) submit a photo of you and the LOVE of your life to heathermoraru@gmail.com; (3) along with your photo, tell me in a million words or less (but a minimum of 50!!) why you and this person are the LOVE birds I am looking for; (4) must be adventurous (don’t be scared – nothing embarrassing, we just don’t want the same old same old couples photos and I have a good guess you don’t either!!). :)   —and don’t be scared about sharing your story either – nothing will ever be shared with “the public” without consent! — :)

I must receive your entry by Sunday, May 9 at midnight! I can’t wait to read all your love stories!

{such a love~hate relationship!}

Ok – so here’s the deal. I love, and I mean ADORE looking at other people’s blogs. Well, mostly photography and design blogs…but really, I love reading it all. The ones that post about their personal lives – where they are going this weekend, the cool restaurant they went to on last weekend’s date night, the fun they had with their kids at the strawberry patch….and then the good stuff of course. All the totally {AMAZING} moments and memories they were able to capture – for a newborn, first birthday, a couple in love, a wedding. Whatever the occastion - if it’s rockin’ photos, I’m ALL about it!

*HUMP!* my blog would say! *where is all the love here?* my blog screams! *the fun posts….the silly lamentings….the excited ramblings…the cool pics….* my blog SIGHS!

And there you have the love~hate relationship…in a nutshell anyway. While I LOVE other people’s blogs, I have the most terrible time getting into my own. I think about my blog quite often, every day even. Think of the cool posts I {should} be doing, think of the cool shots I {should} share…and then things get crazy, I get frazzled and yep, you guessed it. Zero, nadda, zip – nothing gets posted! Oh how I would love to be a cool blogger – with awesome things to say two, three even four times a week.

So here it is. I am not going to promise to suddenly become that cool blogger. I’m trying to be realistic here!! But I am saying that I will make a conscious effort to blog {much} more regularly!

All THAT being said – I honestly have had some amazing things going on. Our spring/Easter special was met with an awesome response and we met some great new people with all of those sessions. I was able to attend a fabulous workshop, learn some new tricks and meet some truly amazing and inspiring people. AND we are in the works with new and exciting things for the business!! I can’t wait!

And since no post is complete (in my humble opinion) without a picture, here are some from a high school Fashion Show from {several} weeks ago. These kids were so fun to watch – they were both excited and nervous to be dressed up and dolled up to walk the runway! As they waited their turn to strut their stuff, I captured their memories. Here are a few from that night (I can’t say my favs, because honestly I have TOO many favs to post them all! check out Heather Moraru Photography on Facebook for *many, many* more of these guys!).

And of course, getting into this whole blog thing…you know, becoming that cool blogger I was talking about earlier? Anyway, it would be so much easier if people would comment – HERE! :) I get emails and facebook posts about my blog – but rarely does someone leave a comment here. (is it freaky in some way to comment here? no personal info is shared! I promise!) ;)

{a little fun…ties & tutu style!}

I wanted to let everyone know I am doing a fun photo event at Sterling on the Lake subdivision on March 27.  We’ll be at the subdivision clubhouse taking pictures of your little guys in ties and your little girls in tutus (or pettiskirts or fairy costumes….)! AND since it will be right before Easter – we’ll have bunnies! (Don’t worry, we won’t make your little one have their picture made with the bunnies unless they, or you, want them to!)

But, I didn’t want anyone not living in the fabulous Sterling on the Lake community to miss out! So we are extending the special package discount to any one interested – you just need to have your session sometime between March 12-26!

Here is a little more info!

Call for questions and of course, to set your session date!!

{love this family….}

This mama and I go way back…all the way to the early elementary school years way back! She is just one of the sweetest, kindest people I know…someone I know will always be a great friend. And her kiddos?? Aren’t they adorable? Little Miss {B} has the most fabulous long, silky hair and those chocolate brown eyes….now my hubby can tell you, I am a sucker for the big brown eyes! And we can’t leave out little Mr {O}!! His sweet giggle was contagious – especially when singing us some country songs!! :)

There’s also one on here for you, Miss {K}!! All grown up and lookin’ fine!

Guys, these are just a few of what we got that evening! Hope you enjoy them as much as I have! Can’t wait to show you the rest!

Leave comment love…right here below this post!

Thanks! ~H

{g+n=total sweetness!}

As I was editing today, I just had to share these 2! Little Miss G and Mr N are the grandchildren of a dear friend of my mom’s. His eyes are like chocolate stars…and her little sweet lips are just perfect for little girlie smooches!! What total doll babies!!
